Municipality of Bologna and ENEA have developed a tool called KiloWàttene, that allows an analysis of household electricity consumption in an interactive manner and to identify, through comparison with high-efficiency appliances and simulations such as "what if. .. ", the stronger action to reduce consumption.
In order to compensate for some of the shortcomings found in other products, it seeks to provide reliable estimates of consumption, both through a comparison with the actual bill, is trying to accurately assess the contribution of the various devices according to their characteristics ( year of production, energy class, method and intensity of use).
This new software represents the evolution of a spreadsheet audit power, born of the participation of the Municipality of Bologna in the European project Save "TREAM, which since 2005 has involved a number of schools and citizens of Bologna in the investigation of domestic electricity consumption. The spreadsheet divides the items into eight main categories of consumption, and for each of them is given a summary of consumption, are estimated based on data entered, and the savings achieved through costly interventions (eg. Replacement of equipment) or with good deeds daily.

The final section "Consumption and Total savings" to summarize the data, compare the estimated consumption with the true value obtained from the electric bills and possibly suggests a revision of the data.
